Dig in a Little Deeper
What the heck is cholesterol exactly? Turns out it's a waxy substance that comes from two sources: your body and food. Your body, and especially your liver, makes all the cholesterol you need and circulates it through the blood. But cholesterol is also found in foods from animal sources, such as meat, poultry and full-fat dairy products. Your liver produces more cholesterol when you eat a diet high in saturated and trans fats. Simply put, cholesterol itself isn't a bad thing, but excess cholesterol can form plaque between the layers of your artery walls, making it harder for your heart to circulate blood. Plaque can break open and cause blood clots. If a clot blocks an artery that feeds the brain, it may cause a stroke. If it blocks an artery that feeds the heart, it may cause a heart attack. Well, there you have it.
There are two types of cholesterol: 'good' and 'bad'. Too much of one type—or not enough of the other—can put you at risk for coronary heart disease, heart attack or stroke. As with most things in life, it's about balance. Our Cholesterol Support Formula includes Cayenne, and a gaggle B vitamins, (six to be exact, B1, B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12), as well as Niacin for cholesterol balance.
Despite its somewhat homely name the Bladderwrack plant contains a compound called focoidan which has anticoagulent properties, and we are always fans of Acerola Berries; extract of Acerola is used for its vitamin C content, another important component in managing healthy cholesterol levels within the normal range.
And every single ingredient in our Cholesterol Support Formula is 100% USDA Certified Organic.
